Rainfall plays a pivotal role in shaping Corfu’s picturesque scenery. While the island is renowned for its sunny days, rain is a vital contributor to its verdant beauty. Here’s what to expect in terms of rain:

• Summer: Rainfall during summer is relatively scarce, making it the ideal season for sunbathing and outdoor activities. However, an occasional brief shower might surprise you.  August, it will usually rain atleast once from being so hot, however, it won’t be long and is actually quite refreshing after the extreme heat.
• Autumn: Rainfall starts to increase as autumn progresses, especially in November. While it rarely pours incessantly, packing an umbrella and a waterproof layer is a good idea.  If you are lucky It won’t rain at all in September or Ocgtober, however, on the otherhand, some years it has been known to rain in record numbers and flood some parts of Corfu.
• Winter: This is Corfu’s rainy season, with December and January experiencing the highest precipitation levels. It’s recommended to have waterproof clothing and footwear to navigate the occasional downpours.
• Spring: Spring showers are a welcome spectacle, infusing the island with new life. Carrying a small umbrella or a waterproof jacket will keep you comfortable during these intermittent rain spells.

Corfu is fortunate to enjoy a mild winter climate, and snow and frost are extremely rare occurrences. The island’s coastal location and Mediterranean influence ensure that such wintry phenomena are almost unheard of. If you’re seeking a snow-capped winter wonderland, Corfu may not be your destination, but its unique blend of temperate conditions and lush landscapes compensates for the absence of snow.  A few times in the winter early in the morning around 04:00-05:00 it can get to -4 degrees.

Packing for Corfu requires flexibility due to its varying weather conditions throughout the year:

• Summer: Light, breathable clothing is essential, along with swimwear and sunscreen. Don’t forget sunglasses and a hat to shield yourself from the radiant sun.
• Autumn: Layering is key during this transitional season. Pack light sweaters, long-sleeved shirts, and a versatile jacket or windbreaker. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring the island’s enchanting trails.
• Winter: Mild temperatures prevail, but the occasional rain demands waterproof attire. Opt for a warm coat, waterproof shoes, and layers that you can adjust as needed.
• Spring: Embrace the unpredictable spring weather with a mix of light clothing and layers. A waterproof jacket, comfortable sneakers, and an umbrella will prepare you for any surprises.
