I have recently gotten into trail running. Here on Corfu, there are many trail races that you can attend! However, because of the heat there aren’t any in June, July and August. So if you would like to join take a look down below to see which one you can fit yourself in to. My goal is to run in all of them this year.
Below are the dates (possibly not exact dates) of the running races in Corfu this year. I will also provide the link so you can look into it more and register!
Alogostrata Trail Februray 11th
This is a trail race in the mountains above Ipsos (the popular tourist destination). It consists of a 8 KM and a 18 KM It is the first year for this race and comes from the trails that have been used for many years by our ancestors for farming, and transport reasons.
Leukimmi Run March 24th
This is a road race consisting of a 10 KM, 5 KM and kids race. It is all the way to the south of the island.
3o Nymfes Waterfall Trail April 7th
Nymfes is known for it’s waterfall and in general its abundance of water. There is also a trail race that runs past this waterfall. There is a 10 KM and 20 KM race on mostly trails. There is also a bike race that’s 25 KM
Kassios Dias April 21th
In the top right of Corfu, in the village of Kassiopi there is a famous trail race. This year there will be a 22 KM, 10 KM and a children’s 1200 meter race. It goes through the beautiful area of erimitis.
Corfu Mountain Trail May 11th-12th
This is the most famous of the Corfu races and also the longest! The races start out at 12 KM, then, 24 KM, 44 KM and the longest is 103 KM! Much of it is on the Corfu Trail, which is a trail stretching 220 Km around Corfu. However, the 220 KM isn’t a race.
Corfu Old Town Trail September – ?
Usually, this race takes place at the end of September and is 7 KM and 14 KM. It starts and ends in Spianada Square. It goes through the old town and both forts. The 14 KM even goes through the Mon Repo!
Arkoudilas Trail November – ?
This race is all the way down in South Corfu. South Corfu is known to be a lot flatter than north Corfu, but don’t let that fool you. This race has many hills and a big elevation! There is usuallu a 10 KM and a 22 KM.
