About
Maragkos Grill is a traditional grill in the square of Giannades Corfu. A medium-size village in northwest Corfu. It is on a hill so the view is spectacular. You can slightly see the sea of Corfu Town on a clear day. Maragkos Grill has an old fashion unique style that is rare to find. Most people will sit outside in the summer but there is also inside seating.
It is owned by my friend Akis.
Right next to it is a small cafe/bar where you can enjoy a cocktail afterward.
Maragkos is not that well known to tourists so you can definitely consider a place “where the locals go”. The tourists you see there? It is mostly just the ones staying in the village and it is not a touristic village by any means.
Food and Drinks?
I can honestly say I have never had better souvlaki than the souvlaki here. The quality of the meat is amazing and the person on the grill must be experienced.
Not only do they have souvlaki, but traditional greek meats like “kokoretsi” (lamb intestines) and “kontosouvli” (large chunks of pork) are served on the weekends.
The best tomatoes and french fries are also here so don’t miss out and get yourself a plate. They come from the owner’s garden!
For drinks, you will have your usual house wine, Corfu Beer, restina (my favorite is malamatina) and other Greek beers.
Service
The hospitality is also very good. Akis, the owner will make you feel comfortable and do his best to give you the best experience for dinner.
However, sometimes they can be short-staffed and if they are busy it might take them a while to get them your food. Now you know I’m not being biased. However, you are on vacation right? No need to rush!
