Wild Boars

There aren’t many, but there are still wild boars in Corfu. They are more towards the south of the island. They live in the mountains and come out at night.

Hedgehogs

These spiny creatures are common throughout Corfu and can often be seen in gardens and parks or many times they will be spotted on the road trying to get across.   They usually sleep during the day and come out at night.

European Otter

This semi-aquatic mammal can be found in river, streams and places like Erimitis.  However, they are endangered.

Weasels

These small, carnivorous mammals are common throughout Corfu and can be found in wooded areas.  I see them a lot down in the valley and also in the mountains.

They are more active at night and are very good hunters. They are afraid of humans, but don’t try to catch them.

Birds of prey

Corfu is home to several species of birds of prey, including eagles, falcons, and owls. Owls plenty of times you can find on the roads at night down in the valley. Eagles, falcons and hawks you can find up in the mountain on the trails and you’ll see them up in the air looking for prey.

Reptiles

Corfu is home to several species of reptiles, including snakes, lizards, and turtles.  You will see so many lizards if you go hiking.  Usually, small and fast. Also, there are plenty of snakes, only one is venomous and this is the viper.  So if you get bite by the viper definitely get to the hospital.

There are also an incredible amount of beetles. Many different kinds.

Other kinds of birds

These are birds are very smart and hang out in the valley.
