Corfu Town, a charming gem on the Greek island of Corfu, beckons travelers with its timeless allure, ensuring a year-round destination for those seeking a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. Nestled along the Ionian Sea, this enchanting town is a living testament to its Venetian, French, and British influences, with cobblestone streets, pastel-hued buildings, and a captivating old fortress that transports you back in time.
Explore the inviting maze of narrow alleyways, discovering quaint shops, local eateries, and vibrant markets. I always reccommend to take a trip to the old town and get lost in the small alleyways. Some say the streets were designed like this to make it easier to escape from the pirates that would invade. It is indeedably a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Venetian architecture meets Greek hospitality. As the day transitions to evening, the town comes alive with lively bars, restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife scene, making it perfect for both romantic getaways and adventurous solo travelers.
With a Mediterranean climate that remains mild and temperate throughout the year, Corfu Town is an ideal escape for all seasons, promising endless adventures, relaxation, and a warm welcome from the locals. So, whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or a nature lover, Corfu Town invites you to experience the best of Greece’s past and present, any time of the year
In summary, Corfu Town has something to offer year-round, whether you seek the buzz of summer beach life or the tranquil charm of a winter getaway. The choice between seasons depends on your preferences and the type of experience you desire.
Where to stay in Corfu Town?
Do hotels in Corfu Town close like the rest of Corfu? No, most places will stay open and actually will have better prices. so here are some places I reccommend.
Corfu Palace Hotel is one of the luxury hotels in Corfu Town. The Casino used to be located inside it, however, no it has moved. Spectualar view of the sunrise on the sea, walking distance all around Corfu Town, rooms are spacious and clean.
This hotel is located right above Liston. The busiest spot in the evening. It is a little bit more reasonable in price and still very good reviews! Oh and the roof dining area is amazing! A panoramic view of the whole city.
This historic hotel opened up in the 1960s, but was built originally as a mansion in the 17th century. It is perfectly located on the street leading to Liston. It’s roof garden is a fancy restaurant open to the public. (roof only open in summer). For one of the most famous hotels in Corfu, Cavalieri Hotel is actually known as a budget friendly hotel,
Vidos Seaview Suite is a newly renovated apartment in Mouragia, Corfu Town. A 2 bedroom, pull out couch in the living room, 1 bath, a fully equipped kitchen and 3 balconies with astonishing views it is what I can consider one of the best places to stay in Corfu Town. Only a 5-10 minute walk to Liston, the most popular area in Corfu Town. A bit pricy, but definitely worth the stay!
