Where to stay in Corfu Town? All year round?

Corfu Town, a charming gem on the Greek island of Corfu, beckons travelers with its timeless allure, ensuring a year-round destination for those seeking a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. Nestled along the Ionian Sea, this enchanting town is a living testament to its Venetian, French, and British influences, with cobblestone streets, pastel-hued buildings, and a captivating old fortress that transports you back in time.

Explore the inviting maze of narrow alleyways, discovering quaint shops, local eateries, and vibrant markets. I always reccommend to take a trip to the old town and get lost in the small alleyways. Some say the streets were designed like this to make it easier to escape from the pirates that would invade. It is indeedably a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Venetian architecture meets Greek hospitality. As the day transitions to evening, the town comes alive with lively bars, restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife scene, making it perfect for both romantic getaways and adventurous solo travelers.

With a Mediterranean climate that remains mild and temperate throughout the year, Corfu Town is an ideal escape for all seasons, promising endless adventures, relaxation, and a warm welcome from the locals. So, whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or a nature lover, Corfu Town invites you to experience the best of Greece’s past and present, any time of the year

The streets are filled with people, and the town exudes energy and excitement.  If you rent a car in Corfu town, you will have a difficult time finding parking and traffic is crazy in the summer.  If you don’t like to be around people Corfu Town in the summer will definetely not be for you.

Visiting Corfu Town in the Winter

Corfu in the winter is the off season.  Bascially everything closes except for in Corfu Town. Everything in Corfu town stays open and it will for the most part be only Corfiots.

  1. Mild Climate: Corfu Town experiences a mild and temperate winter climate, making it an appealing option for travelers looking to escape colder, more extreme winter weather elsewhere.  It can rain a lot and the wind and humidity can make it feel very cold.  We do have to turn on the heating and we all have winter jackets!
  2. Cultural Exploration: With fewer tourists, winter is an excellent time to delve into the town’s rich history and culture. You can explore museums, churches, and historical sites without the crowds.
  3. Authentic Local Experience: Winter offers a chance to connect with the local community as the pace of life slows down. You can savor traditional Greek dishes in local tavernas and interact with the friendly residents.
  4. Peace and Serenity: The town’s historic old quarter takes on a serene ambiance in the winter, with its cobblestone streets and pastel-colored buildings providing a quiet, romantic backdrop for leisurely strolls.
  5. Lower Prices: Accommodations, flights, and activities tend to be more budget-friendly during the winter months, making it an attractive option for travelers looking for cost-effective vacations.
  6. Hiking and Nature: The winter season is great for nature lovers and hikers, as the landscapes are lush and green. You can explore the island’s countryside and enjoy its natural beauty without the summer crowds.  On a sunny day it can be 20 degrees,  which makes for a perfect time to go check out some popular beaches where you won’t find anyone!

In summary, Corfu Town has something to offer year-round, whether you seek the buzz of summer beach life or the tranquil charm of a winter getaway. The choice between seasons depends on your preferences and the type of experience you desire.

Where to stay in Corfu Town?

Do hotels in Corfu Town close like the rest of Corfu? No, most places will stay open and actually will have better prices. so here are some places I reccommend.

Corfu Palace Hotel

Corfu Palace Hotel is one of the luxury hotels in Corfu Town. The Casino used to be located inside it, however, no it has moved. Spectualar view of the sunrise on the sea, walking distance all around Corfu Town, rooms are spacious and clean.

Arcadion Hotel

This hotel is located right above Liston. The busiest spot in the evening. It is a little bit more reasonable in price and still very good reviews! Oh and the roof dining area is amazing! A panoramic view of the whole city.

Cavalieri Hotel

This historic hotel opened up in the 1960s, but was built originally as a mansion in the 17th century. It is perfectly located on the street leading to Liston. It’s roof garden is a fancy restaurant open to the public. (roof only open in summer). For one of the most famous hotels in Corfu, Cavalieri Hotel is actually known as a budget friendly hotel,

Vidos Seaview Suite

Vidos Seaview Suite is a newly renovated apartment in Mouragia, Corfu Town. A 2 bedroom, pull out couch in the living room, 1 bath, a fully equipped kitchen and 3 balconies with astonishing views it is what I can consider one of the best places to stay in Corfu Town. Only a 5-10 minute walk to Liston, the most popular area in Corfu Town. A bit pricy, but definitely worth the stay!
